Welcome to the 2013 Westchester Youth Football League.

Whether you are a player, parent or coach from Westchester County, NY, please browse each page on this web site to learn all about our football league.

If you are a youth football organization interested in joining our program, please contact me to discuss the possibility of having your flag or tackle program join the other twenty towns who have enjoyed playing in our league since 2008. The dedication of our volunteers surpass any program in the county.

If you are a parent who is interested in having your son play youth football, please click on the "Town Rep/ Website" link to the left and contact the League Representative for that town. If you do not see your town listed, please choose the next closest town to see if they will allow you to participate in their program !

Hope to see you on the football field very soon!

History of League

In 2008 The Westchester Youth Football League was started as a way to bring the majority of towns together to form a football league that puts the players 1st while teaching the fundamentals of football with a motto "everyone plays" .

The league teaches football starting with flag (K-2). The tackle program has divisions for players in the following grades : 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8

The teams travel throughout Westchester from September - November
Each team is run by the individual towns guided by the leagues bylaws and rules.
Please contact any member of the Executive Board if you have a town program that wishes to join out league.

Westchester Youth Football League proud to

announce affiliation with USA Football !!
Coach Membership – On line nationally recognized certification course, drills library, film room, training binders

Program Insurance discounts with ASG Insurance

Grants- for new or damaged equipment as well as field grants

Heads Up Football – National program designed for safety and prevention of head injuries!

The basic premise of the Heads Up Football program is to train all persons involved in
youth football from the League down to the coaches, parents and players.
They promote safe football techniques to prevent head injuries.
(The NFL is getting more involved in research and development of head injuries and this
program will be on the forefront of all levels of football this fall. Our league cannot ignore this and will be involved !)

Step 1 - Heads Up Football requires one member in the WYFBL to be the League Safety Coach who will attend training clinics.

Step 2 - Each town is required to have one Town Safety Coach who will also attend a training clinic.

Step 3 The trained Town Safety Coach will train all his coaches, parents and players
(One important item is that these coaches are trained in recognizing concussions)

Step 4- The Town Safety Coach will communicate, monitor and report back to the League Safety Coach who will report back to USA Football any issues involving training techniques and injuries.

The Heads Up also program requires all coaches to be certified under their program.
(As a league we have required certifications for the last three years through town programs or through SUNY).

The WYFBL Executive Board feels that this affiliation with USA Football and the Heads Up Football program will benefit our league in the fact that we are not ignoring the dangers of football.  In fact, we are being pro-active in training everyone involved the proper and safer way to play football so the football programs throughout Westchester can flourish.
